    USB to Sata

    hello,
i've got Segate Barracuda 7200 120gb model ST3120827AS. this is an internal harddisk. i have got Sony Viao VGN-BX194VP Laptop and i wish to connect this harddisk with my laptop. I have seen so many usb to sata cables at ebay and was contacting the sellers tht if this will work with my laptop or not .. but unfortunatly ... no one didnt reply me back...

i want to know if there is any possibility to connect harddisk with my laptop.

    many thanks.

    Saeed.

    Yeah its possible.

You pretty much need an exteral HDD case, and a controller hookup. Then you do a little handy work on with a PC to format it and set it up and you are good to go.

if your just going to do this short term and not long term than there is such a thing as a cable that will will convert SATA to USB (if you supply the power).

(there are cheaper versions available for like 5-10$$)

Otherwise there is somethings you have to keep in mind. Overheating and magnetic shielding ... ie having it in a case.
