    USB keyboard ports for notebook

I just recently got a notebook and when I am at the desk typing a report or something of that sort, I would rather a desktop feel. I do not want to go spend 150 dollars for a notebook port, but would rather hook my notebook to a monitor and put a keyboard and mouse to it. However, my notebook doesn't have a standard keyboard/mouse port, just USB ports. I want to say I have seen USB adapts that you can plug a keyboard and mouse to, but I can't find them anywhere, do they even exist?

Also, is there a way to plug my monitor to the notebook and close the notebook and stop it from going to sleep/standby?

You need a ps/2 to usb converter but they do sale usb keyboards. As for your monitor to computer. You would need a serial vga cable. Should be a port about an inch and a half wide that you can plug your monitor into. To stop it from sleeping, etc then you need to go into the power options found under your control panel. Here you will see a section that says what to do when you close your monitor.
