IE is so integrated into Windows that I think the best and possibly only method is to do a system restore I'm afraid.

Actually the vector version could be corrupted.
Follow these instructions carefully. Failure to do so could cause things to become worse.

Click start. Go to run. Type regedit
The registry editor should open up. Navigate to this key.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Version Vector

Should see a key that says IE, this should be set to 6.0000

Edit: Search around for standalone IE7 versions

Just got an email back from Microsoft and the process is simple..huh imagine that LOL

    Anyway -

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Customer Service.

I understand that you would like to revert to Internet Explorer 6. You can follow these steps to uninstall Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 Preview and return to Internet Explorer 6 on Windows XP:

    1. Click "Start", and then click "Control Panel".

    2. Click "Add or Remove Programs".

    3. Check "Show Updates" on top of the dialog box.

    4. Scroll down the list to "Windows XP – Software Updates", select "Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 Preview", and then click "Change/Remove".

If "Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 Preview" does not exist, run %windir%\$NtUninstallie7bet2p$\spuninst\spuninst.exe. You need to have "view hidden folders" enabled.

%windir% is your Windows installation directory, which is normally 'C:\Windows' on most systems.

News and developments on Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 Preview can be viewed on this page:
    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ie7/default.mspx

We will be doing a series of blog posts in the upcoming days at http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/default.aspx highlighting the new features in the Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 Preview with quite a bit of detail. These will answer a lot of questions about how the new features work.

Did I completely answer your questions? Please let us know by replying to this message.

Should you have other concerns regarding Microsoft.com, please do not hesitate to write back.

    Thank you,
