    printed list of files

ok - I have a folder with 14368 images on it (7184 small and 7184 large)

what I need to do is be able to line up those images with their descriptions which I can find in a catalog

so I was wondering if there was a way to print what the cd contents were?

I'm having trouble following. You have a folder with a bunch of images in it and then a catalog of descriptions for each images. Now where do cds come into play?

I think he got the images off a cd / off several cds and wants to catalogue the descriptions of them?

    omg I'm so sorry

I totally forgot I had this question posted

instead of folder I should have said cd...

on the cd I have 14368 images (7184 small and 7184 large)

I also have a printed catalog which contains those images and also has their descriptions

essentially what I want to do is get the list of the images on the cd into a spreadsheet where I can then add the catalogs descriptions

    does that make more sense?

    oh and...*chuckles*...I'm a she btw...

If you want it in a spreadsheet, you could maybe use VBA to accomplish your goal. Though an alternative approach would be to make a simple database that would reference the image and let you tie a description to it. Then you could make a simple frontend using a webpage or if you are a fan of Access you could make the frontend in there. Then you could flip through them and search the descriptions.

thanks og - that would work if I already had all of the file names in a list

but after thinking I couldn't form the question to google it I came up with this
    http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,1722387,00.asp
and I used "list of folder contents" as the search
