    Best software for protecting files

Can you recommend some best software used to protect files aside from zipping it?

    For what purpose?

Zipping a file doesn't protect it, it just makes it smaller.

If you mean files for the web then there is no way whatever to protect any files that are available for download (which includes HTML, CSS, Javascript, images, zip files etc) and you are just wasting time and/or money if you try.

If you want to protect files on your computer you can encrypt them. I'm sure there is a wide variety of programs out there that will do it. Personally I prefer PGP Desktop myself.

I'm protecting any types of files and not html codes.
Zipping a file do protect the files and at the same time reducing its size, it depends when you use the password option of your favorite zip program.

I tried Security Toolkit, it mounts a protected drive. But i just want to know if there are still other programs.

Thanks oracleguy for suggesting a program, i'll try to try it.
