What's a dynamic drive and spanned volume?

How do I format my two drives (one internal, one external) to appear and work as one? I recently posted this before and was replied to change them to dynamic drives and make them into spanner volumes... I don't understand what this means... could anybody explain what it is and how to do it?

Why didn't you carry on in that thread?

    Some info I found -

    http://support.microsoft.com/default...309044&sd=tech
    http://support.microsoft.com/default...299598&sd=tech

Dynamic drives are ONLY supported in XP Pro though.
