    Windows Media Player

I have recently gotten these two annoyances while using Windows Media Player. About 90% of the time it no longer lets me double click to play a song, I now have to right click and choose the option to play. It also completely stops playing after each song, even if they are in a playlist. So I have to manually start each song. It just started doing this 2 days ago, I haven't changed anything and Microsoft's website was no help in trying to figure out the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I had this same sort of thing happen to me, too. Movies and DVDs I wanted to play would not have the right codecs, so I just ditched Windows Media Player for something better. You should get VCL Media Player...not much of an interface to mess around with, but it has like every codec known to man and can play any kind of media: audio, video, etc.

    Get it here.

I don't think it is the codecs, because it is the same songs that I have had on there for a while. Also, it's only happening with songs, I don't really care about the video on media player because I use a different program to watch videos. I haven't noticed any of the songs turning orange. But if they did what does that mean?

If they did turn orange it just means their file path is wrong. What version of media player do you have? Perhaps upgrade to the latest version which is 10. Also you may be in the wrong view, or the repeat isn't turned on. You should be in the Now Playing view when playing files.

The file paths are all correct and I have the latest version. Repeat or shuffle is not turned on. I'm in the "All music" view under now playing. It's just weird because it worked fine until Tuesday, now it's not working.

This happened to me before. I cant remember how I fixed it, although I think I did this..
First go into Windows Media Player, then click on Tools > Options. Now click on the File Types tab and make sure the file type you are trying to play is checked. I hope this helps.

I checked that and it's still doing the same thing. It seems the only time I can double click on a song is the very first time I play a song upon starting media player, after that it will only work with right click.

Oh I know its not the codecs, but just in case you did use it for video, another reason to switch to the vcl media player is that is kind of an all in one deal that you don't have to constantly update codecs with...so that was just kind of a side point. My main point was ditch wmp for something better.
