A problem regarding my old computer...

I must have got a virus, or perhaps a trojan. But somehow some settings were toggled. I was locked out of the settings on the computer. Somehow the "System Administrator" thing was activated, keeping me from changing any settings. The options for the content on IE were also changed. Making it so that all websites were blocked, content too offensive or something. And I also kept getting a message in IE that said that there was missing information. Would that be reversable ya think? I cant re-install because the disc-drive thing is broke; wont open and such, and when it does open, the computer says that its empty. By the way, how much would that cost to replace? Whats the minimum I would spend? Thank you for any help or advice you can offer me. =)

    Wotta problem!

    Hi

If I were you I'd try to obtain an external cd drive from a friend or aqaintance. Install it on your machine and re prodcue a boot disc with the right drivers etc. Then, check the boot disc for viruses pehaps on a work machine - oftern the best and safest way as their virus scanning is spot on (most of the time, if not then lessons will be learnt and you'll get told off)

Next, reinstall. A long while ago I had the same problem only I broke my cd tray while trying to open the drive - Doh

Bought a new cdrom, and went from there. If IE said there is missing information then I'd take it face value, something is on your pc and you need to start over. In the uk a cd drive would be 75 all in, I am sure if you shop around on the net or a pc store you'll find a deal worth taking.

    Hope this helps.
