    Drive mapping in win98

    is drive mapping possible in windows 98?
    how can i do it?
    i understand what it is, i want to create a virtual drive (H so when i go to my H drive it goes to C:\blah\
    they do this on networks with .bat files, at school they use windows 98 and do it.
    any tutorials on mapping drives?

    is this locally or on a LAN? i get the impression you want to do this on your own PC :s if so juts make yourself a link otherwise right click on my computer and click on "connect to network drive" and select the drive name and path

    wow that was a fast reply! i havent done this thing in a long time so somebody correct me if im wrong but, if you dont want to make that link then try what i said exept instead of computer "\\comname\share" try "C:\blah\" i dont now if tht will work but you can always try, that will map it as a network drive. happy testing

    share the folder you want. Then right click on network neighborhood on your desktop and select "Map Network Drive" and point to the folder you just shared

    If the machine is standalone, then you may not have the required networking modules installed to enable you to share the drive! On your desktop, do you have a network Neighbourhood icon? If not, then the modules need to be added.

    I'd tell you how to do this, but I can't remember how it's done.

    Once you add a NIC, modem, or dial-up connection doesn't it appear? Can't really remember.

    i have a modem in my PC. its not listed under add/remve programs in the windows section.
