RDC On Windows XP Home SP 2

I have recently formated my laptop, i have loaded Windows XP Home SP 2 as the operating system. Another one of my PC's has XP Pro SP2. Both of these computers have passwords and work fine. I can Remote Desktop Connect from my laptop to my pc. But i cant connect from my pc to my laptop. What is wrong? All of the settings for remote under propities are ticked, so why isnt this working.

    Can anyone give me advice.

I was also thought, some of the remote options are differant, would this affect it?

    Please help me.

    Many thanks.

    Hi Gavin

You need to set the ip address's of both the laptop and the pc

    for example

    pc:
    192.168.52.1
    default gateway: 192.168.52.1
    preferred dns: 192.168.52.1

    laptop:
    192.168.52.2
    default gateway: 192.168.52.1
    preferred dns: 192.168.52.1

Your problem was I am assuming you dont have a router connected this means neither pc will give each other ip address's as you wont have a dhcp server.

    Hope this helps

Is your firewall behaving itself? If you are using a router which automatically assigns IP addresses, I don't think you have to set the IP addresses like Danny said, however I've only ever connected via the computer name and not by entering the IP of the computer.

BTW the preferred dns server stuff is only for the internet usually, and you should be able to use RDC without them..

Its not the firewall, i configured it to allow the computer to 'talk' to eachother, and i even turned it off just to make sure. :S hope i dont have any virus's, lol.
    Many Thanks,
