    Event log woes

    Hey
I keep getting the following error on my laptop's event log. I have it running XP Pro. For the last few weeks it has been running kinda slow, with the mouse disappearing every now and again.

"The driver has detected that device \Device\Ide\IdePort0 has old or out-of-date firmware. Reduced performance may result."

I think the solution would be to do a BIOS update, which isn't that hard..so I might do that when I get some free time but I'd like some ideas on it please.

    Any ideas?

    Jamie.

Yes, all you need to do us update the device software and it will be fine. Thats pretty much all you can do. Unless you replace the device.
Life has no purpose, because it was not created with a purpose in mind. Take paper for example. Paper was created by humans so they could write or draw on it. Life was created by nature, and since nature is an imaginary force (when really nature is only space and time), life was created for no purpose, and therefore has no purpose.

lol....the mobo I got in here at the moment is a REPLACEMENT
I'm gonna go and upgrade the BIOS and chipset drivers, as newer software versions are available for both.
