Yes, linux is the kernel, there are many operating systems that use it, there are also the BSD kernel and the Unix kernel in common usage, and the Windows OS has it's own kernel. The kernel does housekeeping for the processes running on the computer, making sure they get the needed resources, while preventing them from causing problems with other processes, or 'hogging' the system.

Yeah, the Linux kernel i like the engine. The top layer is the Os variants like Debian etc which are like the outside parts of the car : chassis, tyres, windscreen, trunk etc

A car cannot run without an engine but neither can it move without a chassis or tyres. There are some unessential parts which are not included in some stripped down Linux variants hence why a small Os like Damn Tiny Linux can exist - it has only the kernel and some very essential utilities needed for a user to interact with the computer (in it's case the literal use of the word terminal can be used).

Kernel is the core of every Operating system. So we can say Linux is an Operating System.

Its true that Lunix is not OS but mostly people have confusion about that. Because they thing Lunix is OS. In reality it is a kernel.

I don't have experience of using this but Mostly people who have used it says its like Windows. Is it right?

I think not. What you say about this?

    resistance is...

MVC is the current buzz in web application architectures. It comes from event-driven desktop application design and doesn't fit into web application design very well. But luckily nobody really knows what MVC means, so we can call our presentation layer separation mechanism MVC and move on. (Rasmus Lerdorf)
