Reinstall Windows XP 1-2 CPU - key won't work

    Hi,
I am trying to format and reinstall Windows XP onto a system which has the Windows XP Professional 1-2 CPU COA stuck to the side. The problem is I don't have a Windows XP CD that says 1-2 CPU support on it, and all I do have is Windows XP Home Edition CD and a few downloaded copies of Windows XP Corporate editions.

Could someone tell me where I could get a downloadable copy of Windows XP Professional that supports the 1-2 CPU key? I have tried a few torrent downloads, but they just won't work.

I'm not asking for anything illegal, since I have the legit key right here. So all I need, in theory, is the supporting CD.

    Thanks in advance!

Edit: I have figured it out, I just need Windows XP Professional OEM. Found an archived copy in my records.
Thanks for looking, and I hope this helps someone else out!

    Hi,
I'm not sure if you read my edit above, but I managed to figure out what to do. Simply get a copy of Windows XP Professional OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) CD and it should work with the key. I probably can't tell you exactly how I got my copy because I downloaded it off the internet from a file sharing/torrent application and I'm pretty sure it is against posting rules on CodingForums to post info on how to get copies of software without paying for it.

However, if you know any friends that might have a copy, I would recommend asking if you can borrow it.

    Hope this helps

The monitor is small and you can't connect to the internet because you don't have the drivers installed. Go to the computer manufacturers site and download them to a jump drive on the system you have internet on and then install them on the computer you just put windows xp on.

Bottom line is don't mess with computers if you don't know what you are doing.

Dell often have a recovery program on a partition of the hard disk drive. If you have this, it will also include the operating system.
They don't always provide a Diskette.
What is the model number of the computer?

If you are still having trouble installing windows, maybe consider trying linux. More than likely the majority of your drivers will work out of the box on a modern distribution like ubuntu, so you will already have a internet connection. You might have to click "install graphics driver" to get your proprietary graphics driver installed, but that's about as difficult as it will be.
