Sure. It'll take a lot more CPU usage then say with a 1ghz+ processor however.

I used to play mp3's a lot on an old Pentium I 133mhz, and you could notice the performance hit on the rest of the machine.

thankx for your reply dear, well many years back I was using Xing Player. I didnt remember that what version it was. but it was working perfectly on 486 machine. actually all the mp3 players (winamp, real, sonique) including xing (newer versions and not the old one) requires lot of graphics and xing older version was a very simple player (i mean no fancy buttons, skins and equilizer) and thats why it was working perfectly. well if u know that what version it was ... plz. le me know and also send me the link from where I can download it easily.

    I've never used Xing....

If you are going to do nothing else then mp3's, I'd look at the open-source, console-based mp3blaster app for *nix.

    You can try this one:

    http://www.rz.uni-frankfurt.de/~pesch/#1by1

Only 37 kb (without the MP3 codec). No useless graphics, visualization plugins, skins, etc.
Don't resist to assimilation. Billions of Borgs can't be wrong!
