Are Online IT Courses an effective trend?

This has been a trend. Id like to know how effective it is. Any of you whom had experience or earned eligible certificates from online IT courses or trainings?

Yes, it is a trend but to my mind it is quite difficult to say whether it is effective or not. It all depends on which kind of person you are - are you enough motivated or a bit lazy? Can you be self-directed or need to be taught by standard in-person scheme?
I've got a couple of online certificates from our local training centers but I couldn't say it was of much help to me.

If the certificate is issued by a registered training organisation then it doesn't matter whether the coursework was done in the classroom or online - the certificate still counts the same. The same applies to certificates issued by internationally recognised IT companies such as Microsoft. If it is not issued by an RTO or international IT company then it doesn't matter whether it is done online or in the classroom as the certificate in that case isn't worth any more than if you printed the certificate yourself without undertaking any study.

It would be arduous to answer whether IT courses are effective or not because certificates are not worthy if not issued by a registered training organization or a recognized IT company. In my opinion online learning is a great way to kick-start for a beginner and the effectiveness of the course depends on how much you want to use the information from the course material. Also these online courses are 24*7 available to us & saves a lot of time and provide responses faster.
