Is C language important or outdated?

Is C language important or too outdated? I started learning Java but gave up midway as I realized I wasn't really ready I guess, too much stuff was happening. Recently I started coding in C & batch and this time its really working out well. I need to finish C so I can jump to main languages such as C# Java and Python. Would like to know, is it really necessary doing C?

The majority of systems in existence are written in C, including the military and communications.
It is important for no other reason than it is still prevalent.

If you have just started learning coding then the first language to opt for is C/C++. They will make your base for other superior language. This will help in easy learning and make all other languages easily understandable.

Even systems using procedural coding but which are not written in C mostly use a language that has copied a lot of its concepts from C. Even object oriented languages have developed from C - eg. C++ and C#.
