    Looking for better salary...

    Hello.
I'm a PHP developer with 3 years of experience.I live in Serbia(Central Europe).
I already have a job,I'm working from home as a full-time developer for the company from USA.
My current salary is 3$ per hour. That salary is not so bad for our country but I would be satisfied with a little higher salary(5$/h for example).
I don't have an idea where I can find better job...

    Hey sicko87,

I'd say you should definitely consider doing freelance work on the side. I'm speaking generally ofcourse, but I mean even for a small project (one that under normal circumstances takes a few hours to complete), you could expect to charge $50-$100. That's a significant amount of money in your pocket, considering the average salary in your country.

Just take a look at the "Web Projects" sections in this very forum. There are plenty of job offers. You can google plenty of other similar sites.

Also, when you say you're a "PHP developer", does that mean you strictly work with PHP and nothing else? If so, I would start learning to work with client-side scripting (JavaScript), designing(CSS/HTML), database(SQL).

Thank you very much for your advice...

That sounds strange for me because I would be very happy if I can earn only 40-50$ per day...I'll definitely try to find a freelance job.

I'm not strict PHP developer. My list of skills includes:
    - PHP (advanced level)
    - MySQL (advanced level)
    - HTML (advanced level)
    - CSS (advanced level)
    - JavaScript (basic use)
    - AJAX (basic use)

From what you listed, I think that is a very good skill set you have under your belt. I'd say that considering your situation, you should definitely use it to your advantage. And yes, believe it or not, earning $40-$50 per day is very realistic doing small freelance projects.

From my experience, what occupies the most amount of time when doing freelance work is not the actual development/testing, but having to communicate with clients, and reading/filtering out the job listings, and things of that nature. Regarding the whole experience of being a freelance developer, again, you can find plenty of articles and advice on this very forum, so I'll just stop there.

I certainly hope it works out for you. Try doing 1 or 2 projects and see how it goes, you know?
