Question onclick for mobile drop menu?

i have multiple websites with drop-down menus using the jvascript onmouseover and css hover styles.

if i were to convert these menus to javascript onclick events, would they work on mobile devices?

The mouseover will fail silently (nothing will happen), but the onclick events will be used based on the device. For instance, on an iPhone, the drop-down menu, wen first clicked, results in a scroller at the bottom of the device. The Android shows a popover of the list. You don't need any conversion of those parts of the site for mobile. Mobile knows what to do with HTML, CSS, JS.
