Telling a phone the input is for email

Is there a way to tell a cellular device that the input they are typing into is either email/website/text?

Asking so they dont have to shift or go looking for the @ sign. It may be only the iphone that does this on the virtual keyboard.

    Thanks for any suggestions.

It won't work in every mobile browser, but should work for most iPhones and Android devices. http://slides.html5rocks.com/#form-types-mobile

Use type="email" for the HTML text field.
