    ASP/PHP Site

    Dear forum members,

I would like to buy a non-commercial site for managing bridge tournaments.
    My core requirements are:

    1. Easy to use admin interface for updating tournaments and results into a db (and then show them in the website).

    2. A small forum for members

    3. A membership feature - users will be able to subscribe and receive a user name and password for accessing

    4. Mailing list

    5. The platform can be leveraged to build other sites.

Can someone point me out to a free (or at a negiglible price) solution for accomplishing this? I am open to any suggestion, however would prefer a microsoft based site (in order to shorten the development period).

    Regards,
    XIBI

Smile You should test drive a few of them

You should test drive a few of them and then decide which suites your needs, I use the fantastic website: http://www.opensourcecms.com/ to look in depth at which content management system / blog / portal you will need!

    Hope thats helpful, Anthony

What is a negligible price? If you pre-pay you can find good windows hosting with tons of features for like $8 - $9 a month.

    opensourcecms

    Hi,

opensourcecms.com is a good site with beautiful applications.
The problem is that after reviewing the installation instructions of some applications, i understand that all of them require apache and run on MS SQL.
As i don't have any experience with both, i was wondering if:

    1. Is there a similar site for asp (on Access or SQL Server) applications?

    2. If there isn't, provided i don't have a machine to host the web site and therefore it will be hosted in a hosting company, what should be the requirements from the hosting in terms of support for apache and my sql? Do they make the setting for bringing up the application or should i make them by myself?

    Please let me know.
    Million Thanks.

    Smile Asp / Asp.net

The best ASP CMS I can think of would be http://www.allinta.com/ theres a subscription fee but I know of someone who uses it and they are very satisfied!

There probably is a free PHP CMS thats just as good! - I havent used it myself but I have also heard good things about PHP Fusion.

How competent are you with XHTML / CSS / ASP? - just curious!

Hope that helps a little, Anthony

p.s I can create a ASP / Access website with these feautres for a fee - mail me!
