i havnt used this IIS for years, but here may be some problems

if u dont have file listing enables you need to have a detault page in the dir (C:\inetpub\wwwroot\ or whatever)

you dont have it on port 80 (http://localhost/ = http://127.0.0.1:80/)

you dont have localhost set up on your hosts (ive never seen anyone that doesnt but thats possible.. theres a file in systemroot somewhere that says localhost = 127.0.0.1:80 or something like that)

    etc

What exactly is the error you're getting? Please be a bit more specific. Meanwhile, click on the link below or type it in your browser address bar.
    http://localhost
it should bring out 2 pages. If it doesn't then IIS probably has a problem. Try removing it and reinstalling, then restarting your computer. If it brings out the 2 pages and your own web pages still don't open, then you need to create a virtual directory pointing to the location your pages are stored in.

run "inetmgr" at a command line and go configure.

Revert back if you still have any problems

    IIS Problems

Hi am a newbie,I'v formatted my pc and then I installed IIS, at first it worked then maybe after installing nortan anti virus and some necessary softwares, and connecting to the internet by PPPOE protocole the IIS stopped from working, the problem is I can ping localhost and 127.0.0.1 respond but from the browser i get an error and the two pages the opened at first isn't opening now. I re-installed IIS and restarted my pc and nothing changed.
plz if anyone can help I'll be glad..
    Thanks

Hi codeffect - welcome to the forums. Couple of points that might help you get a speedy answer:
    1. Don't ask your question at the bottom of someone else's, even if it seems related. If you've searched the forums and found no answer to your problem, then think up a nice meaningful thread title and ask away.
    2. If you get an error message, tell us what it is.
