    create database-driven ASP site!

    hi,

Nowaday, most of the web-sites is Database-Driven whereby they save their site content in the Database.

I'm new to this, can anyone of you briefly explain to me how it is created and Worked?? How do we edit the content??
I don't know whether what I'm thinking is correct, do correct me if I'm wrong.

1.) Every content is given an ID, a simple example, every web-site has basic content for :aboutus, company_profile..etc.
the content aboutus is given id 1, company_profile is given id 2
when user click on the about us 's link, the value of 1 will be passed and the content will be retrieved from the database, same as company profile.

2.) but how do we edit the content?? is the content in the database contain all the HTML tags???

    Plaese advice!

well basically you can edit your text from the database. It's just the data sits in the database, you do create you html page and with the help of ASP you do retrieve the data you store in you database and put it within your HTML tags in your HTML page and then you save as .asp

I don't know how much this helps.. good luck!

If you are new to this, you really must check out some of the webmonkey tutorials.:

    http://hotwired.lycos.com/webmonkey/backend/databases/

"Rugged ASP" and "Your first database" are some tutorials I would definitely recommend to anyone, especially if they are using ASP.

Another good reference for almost anything but this is:

    simple example!

    hi, thanks both of you...

I can;'t find what I want from the URL given....
I'm now just hope that I can get a simple sample from here.....
can anyone of you help by creating a simple example on retrieving "aboutus" content from database(how it works) and edit the content as well...

ok..i don't know if I'm wrong, correct me if yes...
1.)We just store the content of the "aboutus" in the database with column "article_content" and assign with "article_id" 001. To retrieve the content, just pass the article value 001 to the database and retrieve the content. For example:http://www.site.com/default.asp?id=001

2.)How about edit the content?? I have no idea about how to edit the content, do I need to store all the html tags?? One of the problem is isn't any way to store pre-formatted text (with bold words, different font sizes, and hyperlinks) in a DB field. Any suggestions on what would be the best way of going about doing this? Should I create a DB table with fields that create a template? I want to make it as simple as possible cuz this would ideally be updated by someone outside of the web team who has no HTML/ASP experience. Any help is appreciated... thanks

I have been spending three days for searching related artivcle or tutorial and sample...but failef to get what I want...please help..

    really appreciate....
