    COM port access and control

to start I must extend my gratitude to anyone able to help me out with this in advance.

I am trying to access and send ascii characters to a COM port (serial) using VBscript. I have spent weeks looking around online for examples but have found nothing but Visual Basics versions which require being compiled and turned into an executable. this is not an option, it must be in VBscript.

again thanx ahead of time for any assitance.

AFAIK there's nothing in ASP scripting that would allow access to COM. It's a scripting technology. If you want access to COM, you're going to have to use something that's compiled.

thank you for the reply. I am not actually using the script in an asp file/page. I am creating an hta program using the obvious html with VBscript to access files and so forth.

I think I may have to settle for running a compiled Visual Basics snippet and using the VBscript to run it. I was just wanting to know if there was a way of doing it with the VBscript, because it would make things alot easier.

    thanks again.
