In Visual Studio 2005, start by creating a new web application. VS2005 will then create a default start page for you called Default.aspx. From the Toolbox, Data section, drag and drop a Gridview control onto your design surface. From there, your datagrid will look very similar to what VS2003 has.

    Hope this helps.

I could not explain my question perfactly
in vs2003 there is a property of webform called layout with values like
    1> flow layout
    2> grid layout

In grid lay out you can drag the control at any position

while in vs studio 2005 it goes to top left corner irrespect where you drop it

can you tell me how to enable it
    Thanx

I never used VS2003 for web dev. but I think I know what your problem is.

When you are in designview and add a control to your webform, then the control is positioned as your default setting. You can change that under Layout-> Position -> Auto-position Options. Then if you wanna change the position option for your control (absolute, relative .etc..) then you mark it, and go to Layout -> Positon.

Furthermore note that if your default position mode is "absolute" then your control will still be positioned at the corner when you drag it to the webform. Thats because you first decide which panel, div, etc. its contained inside, and then its position there. So first you drag it to the panel, then it jumps to the corner, and then you drag it to the location inside the panel.

A even better way to do this is to define position options in the CSS file, and then just add a class to your control, but thats a whole other issue.
