In order to prevent positional problems with IE
my css file starts off with:

body {
margin: 0;
padding: 0;
}

form {
margin: 0;
padding: 0;
}

Should I also be clearing out values of other elements that IE may put margins on ?

eg div, table, span, tr, td, etc ???

Many thanks

Typically, you want to leave most of the defaults because otherwise you will end up using bytes that are unnecessary. There was a thread a couple of weeks ago about something similar, though I can't seem to find it. In any case, it means that you may explicitly define the defaults, even though they are already defined. Change the markup to suit you, but don't overwrite everything. :-P

I'd do this:
* {
margin:0;
padding:0;
}

Best to remove the defaults, in my humble opinion.
