Project: Free Web Hosting Site

Hi,

The description of my project is as follows:

I plan to create a website which basically offer free web hosting. I personally dont have any servers at home to provide this service, so I will be possibly purchasing multiple unlimited reseller accounts from established hosting organisations. I already have one reseller account which I have had for about 2 months now. To break even with the amount I am paying to the hosting company, I have been selling accounts.

Anyway, regarding the project. The way everything will be funded will be by donations. If everything goes well, and we get enough members and donations a paid hosting service maybe introduced. Naturally, the price is going to be very low.

I believe this to be very serious, I expect my patner to contribute towards paying for the reseller account and also have a number of web developing skills. The patner maybe will be expected to code for the website. Such coding may involve, creating online forms, possibily creating some kind of automated system for activate hosting accounts immediately etc. As we progress, new ideas will develop and be implemented into the site. These new ideas may require programming and code writing, without these skills, no matter how that idea can improve the service, it will be useless.

If there comes a time where the payments in are exceeding overhead costs, 30% of incomings will be given to the partner. However, it could be sometime until this actually happens, but when it does, the rewards are great, look at the real example below.

To just give you an idea of possible payments in, lets look at another free site offer free services. Afraid.org offer free DNS management subdomains, thats all. Now, they way money is paid into the site, is by premium members. They current have 509 premium mambers paying $5 every month, so every month they are getting $2,545. If you ask me thats, pretty juicey. 30% of this will then be given to the partner, they will get $763 month. As you can see, its thumbs up all the way  Also, they have their own servers too, to they are paying to maintain them, all that will be going out from us will be the reseller account fees.

To reach that kind of income isnt going to be easy, its in the interest of the partner aswell as me to do the best we can. If the partner does'nt deserve to get 30%, then he simply won't. Its a joint effort...

Just to add, Id like to get programmers within the UK. If this goes on for the next few years, I dont want to be communicating through MSN or by emails, a phone number will be useful.

What company currently has the cheapest yet best web hosting? I am looking for web hosting for two domains I currently own. Specifically one that is a good value but has everything I need. Large data transfers, lots of traffic and has tools to handle a secure store as well as discussion boards and email.

its a nice idea but personally id have a few issues!

1. you want your said "partner" to code the main site! what exactly is your input?
2. your offering 30% of nothing unless it does actually lift off
3. you talk about a joint venture where the coder gets nothing if he doesnt deserve it. whereas without the coder you wont have your site.
4. 30% doesnt really sound like a "joint" venture to me!!

youd be better off trying to find someone who you could employ on an "as is " basis rather than asking someone to pay 50% of the costs for a 30% "possible" return
