View Full Version : few minor questions

1. http://soft.unloveme.org/NEW/services.php - - On the bottom of this page there is a 'blank space' where the div background doesn't appear. (ONLY IN FF) I can't seem to fuigure out why, though I do know that this problem doesn't happen when the content of the page ends with a table (check the main page for example).

2. http://soft.unloveme.org/NEW/contact.php - - The font on this page is 12pt Verdana, however- it's supposed to be 9pt Verdana. There is nothing in any of my CSS that would tell my font to become larger...? (ONLY HAPPENS IN IE)

3. http://soft.unloveme.org/NEW/index2.php - - In FF the links hover as 'blocks' like they're supposed to. However, in IE the links aren't 'blocks', you have to accually click on the word-? I, once again, have no idea why.

I hope I've provided enough information on all of the above questions, and really look forward to seeing if anyone can enlighten me with what exactly I'm doing wrong.

Regards,
Kelsie

Validate your site first. See your coding errors here (http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&uri=http%3A%2F%2Fsoft.unloveme.org%2FNEW%2Fservices.php).

Validate your site first. See your coding errors here (http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&uri=http%3A%2F%2Fsoft.unloveme.org%2FNEW%2Fservices.php).

OK. I validated and thanks to you I've solved one of the problems! LOL! My div closing tags weren't properly nested in my footer.php page!

One problem with the validation though- When I try to validate my contact.php page (the one with the font troubles) this is what I get:

http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fsoft.unloveme.org%2FNEW%2Fcontact.php&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=XHTML+1.0+Transitional

In my source and code there is NOTHING infront of the doctype!!

Also- I've found some new problems.... all related to the Contact Page.

Notice how when you click all of the links (IN FF) the page simply appears. However, when you click the CONTACT link, the page blinks white/blank first. Why?

Also- in IE instead of the page going blank first, the whole page is shifted down/right. Weird.

EDIT: I've fixed problems one and two. If anyone has any ideas about the last one feel free to post!!

Alright, it's kind of complicated to explain, but a middle dot was present in the code, however, it was invisible towards FF's 'view source' option. Copied it into Notepad and found the hidden char. I've validated it and this now should work.

As for your other 'blinking question', the same thing does not happen to me :s

I'm so sorry!! I fixed the problem right before you posted!! I have no idea what happened, but I just made a new page and recoded the contact information.

I'm really sorry that you went to all the trouble, but thank you so much! I'm going to use that validated version! :)

Once again, I'm really sorry!

And about the 'blinking problem'- you checked in IE right? Maybe I'm not explaining it correctly...

Yes, I tried IE7 and FF 2 what version of IE are you using?

Based upon what the validator displayed, you had a problem with the UTF-8 BOM, a Unicode Byte Order Mark. Make sure that you save the document in ANSI format to prevent problems with some browsers.

I am getting a horizontal scrollbar in FF 1.5.0.7 mainly do to your attempt at centering the layout. Use this for your #page CSS.

#page {
position:relative;
width:807px;
margin:auto;
}
as for the links in IE add a width to them.

.cssnav a {
display: block;
font-size: 11px;
display: block;
float: left;
text-decoration: none;
width:70px;
}
