AJAX problem

hi,
i am new to AJAX.i have a function which creates an objXMLHttp object to load zone , subzones and cities . they are inter-related. how can i re-instantiate the objXMLHttp object or make the object null every time the function is called and reuse the same function multiple times to load different interdepended drop downs. is it possible to do it with the same function ?
