text-alignment

Howdidoodi,
I am new to style sheets and am using this for my text.

.font2 {font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size:11px; font-style: normal; text-align: left; }

it works okakokay in an html page but in anXHTML page the alignment is centered. the text is in a table.

any ideas

What are you attaching this class to? A TD? SPAN? DIV? ???

I have sorted it now it took me ages, I use dreamweaver and for some reason it put tags in all over the place where I didnt want them.
