useful thread archive?

so basically
i have an idea on what it is.how will it work?

Well George, I would suggest a suggestion catagory for us peons to suggest other threads and the like. The the mods can add them to the archive!

i also dont understand why there in the middle of the other forums selections

How it will work- We the mods will pick out threads within our respective forums (clean them up if they need it) and copy those threads over to the corresponding FAQ forum. We also will create threads ourselves and put them in.

So if you see a thread that seems to be a candidate for the FAQ forum then either PM the Moderator for that forum and let them know or reply to the thread in question and suggest it become part of the FAQ's or if you have an idea for one then PM the Mod for that forum about your idea. The Mod will then decide if the thread or idea in question will be beneficial to all mankind and take the necessary steps to incorporate it into the FAQ's.

That's a good idea :thumbsup:
but don't forget to keep the threads visible from the beginning in that faq forum. not like the other forums where they only display the last 30 days. Otherwise you'll lose threads that are older then 30 days (well, you won't lose them but they won't be visible at first)

and that's a big "IF". Most of the new guys don't look at the FAQ, they just post their question, because they want a quick answer.
Why not call the FAQ forum a "Top-Secret- Board"? I'm sure more people will look at it then a "Faq-Board" :D (just kidding)

I have to assume the "Disable view source" will be in there. But I don't see it. Hmmmm, that's the most asked question. Hmmm. How long before I see it in there? Ready - set - go. :D

Also, can you disable all posts that contain the words "newbie help" in the title. That would really smooth things.

The archive category is still largely experimental at this time. Hopefully it'll turn out to be useful. I'll try and spend some time each week assisting the moderators in search of FAQ or extremely useful threads to add to it, though this is truly a category where "quality" not "quantity" dominates. So expect it to grow very slowly in terms of threads.

personally, i think the useful threads are a good idea,but i dont think they should be placed in with the forums, considering it isnt one.
it adds a little clutter, what with the dropdown menu, and all the extra jump points.
perhaps a different way to show it?

didn't make it there until now (1-2-2003), should have made it. Maybe the 30 days no posts describes the usefullness of this forum :D. As an experiment , i'd say: it failed :D
