Opaque Tables

Im new to HTML, so I will probably need this explained in simple terms. I want to thank everyone in advance for any help they give me.

Im setting up a MySpace page, I have a background image that I want to show.
How do I keep the text and pictures in the tables at 100%, but make the table background opaque at about 40 or so? I cant use transparent, I need some color in the tables in order to read it.

Make a semi-transparent PNG image and set it as the table background. Note that Internet Explorer 6 doesn't know what semi-transparency is so it'll show up as opaque in that browser.
