I am tryng to create a subtle color change background using a 1-pixel animated gif as a table or cell background. However, it won't work in IE. It works as a page background, but not in a table or cell. It does work in Firefox. Any suggestion?

Define "won't work". How did you specify the background; did you use CSS?
I must admit I never used ani-gifs for backgrounds, but in theory it should work; I strongly recommend to enlarge it to something like 32x32 pixels though, because IE has shown in the past to definitely dislike tiling tiny background images.

I vaguely remember dealing with something like this awhile back; I think the minimum size you can use for IE is 10px or so, although the ins and outs of in what situations IE has trouble with smaller bg images escapes me.

Thanks to both of you. I did try a different size, but can't remember what. Anyway, it didn't work either. I did notice that my table animation started working once in IE after I had experimented by placing another different larger bg anim image in the bg of the page. In any case, the animated gif in the background of the page would work in IE, but not in the table bg or cell bg. I'll try the larger image and see if that works.
