Need help with installing php an MySQL

umm, does anyone know a good program or something that I can download to install PHP Apache and MySQL on my computer, so I can view my php files and such, I have been trying many things but they don'twork for some reason, does anyone have any suggestions, and perhaps a way to get it to work after installation?

if it is for your own machine and you just want to get up to speed and not worry about how to install then use XAMPP via apachefriends.org
