Hey,

OK I went into Dreamweaver and I created a website that you can see here:
http://www.hazardforum.co.uk/phpsite

Now I want to add the content such as in the middle, news sections, where I can put like a title, content and details like posted by scott on date at time etc etc. Also you will notice that at the sides I have panels. What I want in them is:
- Login Box : in the panel members from the forum registration can log in there.
- Stats Box : forum statistics such as total members, topics, posts etc.
- Affiliates Box : shows the list of affiliates and moves up and down them automatically, with a link saying Apply Now for people to apply for affiliation.
- Donation Box : a box with the member names of the members who have donated and how much, with the donation image link at the bottom.
- Poll Box : a box with a poll that I can put weekly questions on the website.
- Top 10 Posters : something like it shows the top 10 posters in the forum with there membernames.

But I dont know how to add all this stuff. I got a thing to try called SubDreamer CMS but that doesnt let me use my dreamweaver design i made.

So if someone can please help me with all this and how to do it that would be great.

If you want examples of the stuff for the panels that im talking about look at www.codedfx.com for an idea on what i mean by it.

Please reply ASAP as I really need this done.

Thanks alot in advance, Rowan

You should probably hire somebody to do this for you as it seems that its way over your head.

Why?

If someone just tells me how to do it ill do it.

I mean im not a n00b. I did design my whole phpBB template myself, and I add mods/codes to that all the time. Its just webdesign on the homepage thats a little new to me.

So tutorials and links would be helpful :)

I take you are fluent in HTML and CSS, then?
If so, this should pose no real problem and I'm puzzled how you could think a bunch of images in a layout table (http://davespicks.com/essays/notables.html) equals "a site".
If not, you may want to start here (http://htmldog.com/), then go over a bunch of articles here (http://www.alistapart.com/), or take a look at some CSS layouts here (http://bonrouge.com/br.php?page=home).

Scott ...

With all that content management and members stuff, in my opinion, you
would be better off installing something like WordPress and customizing it
for your own use (it's free). Along with that, install a free PHP forum.
That would cover just about everything you're doing. Those types of PHP
sytems offer template customization, and you could create your own
special PHP scripting for things not offered.

Customizing sounds daunting, but not as much as writing the whole thing
yourself ... something to think about anyhow.

Thanks, so my best bet is to get a CMS System so its got what I need, and then just customise it to suit my layout.

Ill do that but can anyone tell me this, is SubDreamer or Wordpress the best??

Just wanna know before I install one :)

I only know WordPress, but found it not too bad to customize.
I took the default skin and dissected it ...

It all depends on how extreme the changes will be.

Maybe someone will reply about SubDreamer.

If you did phpBB and know some CSS,HTML, and PHP ...
you should do just fine. And it will be way less work than
designing your own.

Hmmm, so you think I should like:

Get SubDreamer or WordPress, try and design my own layout skin for it, and look for the other plugins for it like Affiliation and Donation panels..

rather than sit and try to design my own CMS?

Well, it sounds like you're chomping at the bit to design your own.

In that case, give it a shot and see what you come up with. But keep
the thought in your mind that you have a possible back-up plan.

It might help to have a PHP/MySQL book handy that you can use to look
up quick references to MySQL database commands and parameters.
You'll certainly learn tons about MySQL, which could help for other
projects in the future. And this is meant in a humorous tone ...
"you certainly have larger testicles than I have".
