Is there any type of desktop software for managing a mysql database. Something more similar to mssql enterprise manager? I'm very use to an enterprise manager environment, and i'm not a huge fan of phpmyadmin so i was looking for some type of alternative.

Thanks.

see the resources thread though I'm not sure any of those will be exactly what you are looking for.

I'm looking for something similar, did you ever find something like enterprise manager? I heard mySQL CC was pretty good, but I'm still trying to get it downloaded to my box.

The best one I've used is SQL Manager 2005 for MySQL by EMS
(www.mysqlmanager.com)
The Lite edition is free. Just be careful about the problem mentioned below

Depending on what you are doing, each app [eg HeidiSQL,
MySQL Query Browser (from MySQL AB), MySQLManager 2005, etc ] has some limitation - eg EMS products don't maintain a connection between the query script file you opened, the file's text once opened and the file you save it to because it stores those scripts in the registry. So becareful when you open a file and edit it to not save it over another file.

I've had really good luck with Navicat (http://www.navicat.com/).

If you are looking to code something and test-run it before buying hosting, I sugguest Abyss Web Server. They have good support, and a very easy to follow guide to installing php support, mysql, phpMyAdmin (mysql manager) etc.
