I am needing an estimate on what I would be charged to have a simple back end admin's section & modify an existing site?

I already have the front it, but I need a member's area created. I need the admin's area created from scratch. This is for a church site that just needs a simple way for the admin to upload their audio & video recordings to their site. The member's area is for the church member's to be able to access the site & listen to the media & download it.

The file link will be saved in MySQL & the login credentials too. This will be a PHP project.

I am making this for a local church & need to know how much you would charge for something like this? If this is the wrong area of the forum then mod's please move it to the correct area. I have never made something this small & not sure what a good price would be.

Thanks!

are you offering any paid work or are you asking for advice on how much you should quote if you'd do the work?

I haven't done a job this small so I am not sure what to charge. I have done lots of sites, but normally I make the entire site from scratch. I have never had to modify existing sites so I need to know what would be a fair price to charge my client for this?

i think this is the wrong forum since you're not offering or requesting payed work...

as for a quote --> depends on your capabilitys realy. I mean: i normally charge 300 euro/day because that is what i can get for complex db or server side scripting work. if someone would ask me to do something simple like type over a book, i'd still charge that daily rate, even if that's simple work that can be done for a fraction of that price by people with good typing skills.
a job like this, if there is a clear spec on what te admin and member area would need to look like, would probably take me a day or so. so about 300 euro.
i don't know how long it would take you and what your daily rate is, so it's hard to give advice about the quote.
some asian/east-european/hobby-coder freelancer will probably write it for 50 dollars, so what you can get for this job really depends on your market value and on what the client is prepared to pay.

I agree with Raf, it depends on what needs to be administered really. Although, to assume it will take one day seems a little pre-emptive.

Perhaps providing more detailed spec, or at least the frontend of the website for potential candidates to browse would provide you with some semi-accurate quotes.

Worst mistake you can make is to ask for a quote with the vaguest spec known to man. You're bound to get the people who are looking for a quick buck and may not be the best for the job.

Just a suggestion though....
