Just purchased a Sandisk Cruzer 2gb flash drive and it has software on it. How can I remove it?

You can't just delete the files?

I think you might have to get a linux livecd or to format the drive. Few friends of mine have the same issue. They haven't tried it but think formatting it with a linux drive will work. You may want to try the HP USB Storage Format Tool. It doesn't seem to be on HP's site anymore but there are many sites that host it. I've used it on my flash drive but it didn't have the software on it in the first place so I'm not sure if it will work but its worth a try.

I had the same friggen problem. Oh, it got me pissed for a while because thoes damn programs keep comming up and you can't delete them because they work as a seperate hidden read-only disk!!!
So, heres a link to the tool to get rid of it, its actually really easy, just follow the on screen directions. Just remember: Once you erase it you'll never get them back on.
