Personally, I find the yellow in the center makes it hard to stay focused on reading the content in the left half. Maybe darken the yellow a little bit.

As for the code, in the head tags you have these lines:

You are using an HTML 4.01 doc type, meaning you don't need and shouldn't have the closing slashes on those tags. And you are missing an alt attribute on a lot of your images.

I'd say mellow out the colors and make it work for 800x600 and it works.

But... I have to say, even though they are filenames that aren't really part of the presentation, I couldn't help but notice the misspelling of "morgage.php" and "commertial.php". A nit pick but it's one of my pet peeves.
