Bizarre Excel Problem

I have a client experiencing a problem with excel, this is what she says is happening.
She loads up our .csv template file in excel, fills in her details and then saves the file as a csv. When she tries to reopen it in excel it wont let her and then when she looks for the file its gone. She's tried it several times now and it does the same thing.
Anyone have any ideas whats going on?

maybe her PC has a virus ... has she opened an excel file before that works okay? if not maybe she could re-install the excel ...
