Bandwidth usage

I've noticed something very odd in our bandwidth charts. Most of the day we're happily bobbing along around the 0.5 Mb/s mark then 6 or 7 in the evening right up to the 1mb/s cap and stays there until about 4am then plummits right down to nothing.
Does anyone know of any way I can monitor what is happening? We've added video streaming to the site so I know that could be a contributing factor but the usage really does go straight up, stay at cap then drop right down again, almost vertically. Basically I want to find out if this is normal, if so I'll get a bigger line, if not I want to know whats causing it.

What are you using to connect you to the net?

At work we have a linux machine which acts as a net gateway, so I was able to install a network traffic monitor on there and see which connections were using what amount of bandwidth.

Alternatively, if you're using Apache to host the content you could use something like awstats which will look at the log files and tell you when the files were accessed, how big they were, etc etc.
