I have XP Home & XP Media Center OS's on 3 different computers. The XP Home is on a Wireless network while the two XP Media Center's are wire RJ45. I ran the Set up network thing in the the Media Center, but I can't get it to recognize the Wireless laptop. In the My Network Places I can only see my own Media Center PC...not the Laptop. The wireless laptop is using a Wireless router that has a 4 port hub built in that I am using for the wired computers.
How do I get them both networked together? I need to be able to share files & printers. My printers aren't Network ready & I have not print server so I would like to be able to just share the printer. I have had this done before with older operating systems. I have looked over MS windows sites, but didn't get any help there.

I would look at the firewall settings in the laptop, as well as compare the domain/workgroup the laptop and the PCs are joined to. Perhaps a combination of the two is preventing the MC machines from discovering the laptop.
Once this is done, share the printer via the printer's Properties.

I just ran the Network setup procedures again on both computers & restarted them. On the MC machines & can now see the Laptop in the View workgroup computers, but I can't access either machines from either machines. I turned off the Window firewall & shutdown ZoneAlarm on the machines too & still get the error about not having permissions.

Try just connecting to the computer using its IP address or computer name. It could just be that the network browser isn't picking it up. You can get the IP address of the computer by looking at the status of the LAN connection under the support tab.

I did that & still doesn't work. It times out in the browser. I was reading this thread: http://www.codingforums.com/showthread.php?t=92009
I tried to ping each of the computers from each computer. It times out every time.
If I go to view the Workgroup computers all I can see is itself...the same computer that I am working on. I don't know why but I can see my Wireless laptop under Workgroup computers from my wired desktop sometimes. It is like it will be there this time & next time it will not.
I checked in the Windows firewall to allow file & printer sharing so I don't think that is the problem. I also still have ZoneAlarm off too.

On my laptop I can ping itself via IP & computer name, but on my Desktop I can't ping myself via IP or computer name.
