JS front end to MsAccess Db- possible?

If it isn't a silly question; instead of building a VB front end, can it be done with JavaScript?

It'll all be offline.

You need a serverside technology to work with a database. JavaScript can not "really" connect to it.

I thought as much but then I thought, if VB can be used as a front end, and JS is the 'online' version, then maybe it could be used instead.
