in my opinion its the best server side language

No offense taken - actually I think you should learn both - AND ASP.NET.
If you know ASP or PHP, then either one of them will be easy for you.
ASP.NET on the other hand is a different beast - but very fast and powerful! (Not to mention it is sure to pay very well)

Well, to be honest I haven't really started learning in much (yet), although I have signed up for some classes in "Developing WEB Services in XML", "SQL Server 2000 Database Administration", and "Visual Studio.NET" to get my MCAD certification... for starters you can create an application visually like in VB (it's all Object Oriented), custom classes, etc., and then you run the compiled code on the server (which is much faster). Also you can code ASP.NET in a number of different languages as well... JScript, C#, VB.NET, etc.
That's just the start though, it does all kinds of stuff... but I can't really even give you a good (or accurate) explanation until I start really learning it myself!
