FlashVars

Hi, sorry i dont know if this is the right place to post this question. But I am wanting to use flashVars to load an image from an external source. I found a really great example at:

But the problem is, when I set the image from a different domain it doesnt work. Upon further research I realized that this is a security issue. I am wondering if anybody knows a work around for this? Basically so i can set the absolute path to an image in the flashvars on the html page.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, again I apologize if I posted this in the wrong section, and if so, if somebody could relocate it for me, that would be rad.

Thanks for taking the time to look into the issue for me. This looks like it has all the information I need, my only problem is.. how do I implement it? In my actionscript frame on the main timeline where I am externally loading the image via flashvars, do I just put it at the top of the code?

I am running Flash 8 so I guess this will end up being more work opposed to if I was using 5 or 6. Any suggestions?

Yeah, in your first frame in the actionscript panel. Doesn't really matter where, should probably come before you load the external movie.

Awesome thanks alot for your help. I found a really simple way to do this, I feel ashamed I didnt think of it first. I decided to pass text variables from flash vars into flash and do a loadmovie to load teh external images. I really felt like an idiot after I did that one.

But once again, thanks for taking the time to look into my problem. The benefit is, I learned something new out of this! :thumbsup:
