Supress Link Click

Anybody know of a way to supress click sound when a page is reloaded using a script?

I have some JavaScript that makes a small area in the frameset refresh every ten seconds. The purpose is for a active database check - the clicking is annoying people.

the client has to set it off in their contol panel > sounds > navigatestart (or somethin like that)
