View Full Version : search engine submission q?
i submitted a site a few weeks well actually more than a month ago to a few engines including google but the site still doesn't turn up, of course i don't expect to be no.1 but it is not anywhere in the results when specifying the query "" matching keywords in the meta tags so this leads me to the conclusion that is not been added into the database to search or whatever yet?
so i was thinking about submitting again to google but would this be considered spamming and possibly stop me from getting listed with that particular engine at all?
how long do you normally have to wait?

All depends on when the server that has your googlebot on updates. I think they say 2 - 8 weeks to be noticed. They update the results every month or so, so if you make changes to your site, don't expect them to be shown up to date in google.

1)Make sure your pages are perfect. You aren't spamming keywords
2)Submit your main pages once and then never submit them again.
As for how long this takes? Well, don't hold your breath :)

There are a bunch of useful tips at Search Engine Watch (http://searchenginewatch.com/webmasters/index.html).
The two main submision pages are submitting to directories (http://searchenginewatch.com/webmasters/directories.html) and submitting to crawlers (http://searchenginewatch.com/webmasters/crawlers.html).

I've found the fasetest way to get listed in search engines is to have other sites (that are listed) linking to yours. I've got one site where I come up very high on some key words and everytime I make a new site, I just put a link on the one that's already listed. Next time the search engine spiders my site (about every 2 weeks) I notice that my new site is listed.

My diary appears under the weirdest google searches so I just assumed that their bots searched my page for keywords without me having to submit anything.
