View Full Version : Can I install Windows 2000 from a flash drive?

I can fit all of the files on my flash drive. Will this work? This particular laptop doesn't have a cdrom so I'm exploring options.

As long as your system can boot from usb you should be able to. You will have to go into your bios to find out.

Sorry to break in, but I've often been wondering something lately. If you made a bootable floppy and transferred the files to a flash drive, would that make it bootable? I would try it if I had a floppy drive, but I don't. . .

Well you can make a bootable microsoft cd as long as you have the microsoft boot image but you will need an existing windows os disc. The below is for XP but the part that says extracting the image should be the same. http://www.theeldergeek.com/slipstreamed_xpsp2_cd.htm
