French text based emails accents not working....

Hi. I am emailing text-based emails that are in french. Most of the accents do not work. I can send it in html and have all the accents work. But I need a text version.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

Cause I can't get it to work.

or I'd imagine iso-8859-2 would do (allows all central european letters)
