Making Fast startups and shutdownsken_shoti 08-02-2006, 09:49 AM How can i make WinXp start and shut down fast? (aside from lessening opened program)? paulq 08-02-2006, 02:36 PM Check out BootVis. daniel_g 08-03-2006, 06:16 PM Unless you really need it to shutdown for some reason, or if your computer doesn't support it, try hibernating. It only uses a couple watts per hour(or maybe less than a watt?), and its faster than shutting down. oracleguy 08-03-2006, 06:51 PM When you hibernate your computer, it actually shuts off. Granted now days all computers draw a small ammount of power when off, unless you actually turn the power supply off. But for all intents and purposes, its off. It saves what is active in memory to the hard drive in order to accomplish this. And it is faster than fully rebooting, I use hibernation on my laptop all the time. ken_shoti 08-05-2006, 12:58 PM Hm...nice idea...but my last try of hibernating was worse....save electricity i guess! one more thing, it's more on uncertainty? |
